Our Story
rasā began on my skin.
With holes in my face
and hope running out.
This isn't a brand built in a boardroom. It was built in a kitchen, during a pandemic, by a woman who had spent years being failed by the beauty industry — and who finally went looking for answers herself.

"I built rasā because my skin needed the truth"
-Simran Singh, Founder of Rasā beauty & wellness
WHERE IT STARTED
I was the girl who picked her face.
And left marks that are still there.
Growing up, I had severe cystic acne. The kind that lives deep under the skin — painful, stubborn, and impossible to leave alone. I picked. Obsessively. Not out of habit but out of shame. It left holes in my face. Literal ones. Some of them are still there today, and I have made my peace with them. But for a long time, I hadn't.
The conventional world had a prescription. Creams, cleansers, dermatologist visits. And eventually — Roaccutane. A powerful drug, taken every day for a year. It cleared my acne. What it took from me was something nobody warned me about.
"My hormonal cycle fell apart. My periods disappeared — sometimes for two, three months at a time. My body went quiet in the only way it knew how. And the medical system that gave me the drug had very little to say about putting me back together."
I was focused on my skin. I had no idea the rest of me was falling apart
THE RESEARCH BEGINS
The sunscreen wasn't working.
My skin was getting worse.
So I taught myself everything.
Life moved fast. I became an event specialist — travelling the world, running international productions, living at full speed. And quietly, underneath all of it, my skin kept losing ground. Spots. Early wrinkles. The products I'd been handed weren't helping. Some of them were making things worse.
So I started reading. Then I couldn't stop. Books, clinical papers, ingredient science, formulation chemistry. I taught myself clean beauty from the ground up. I stopped the sunscreen. I started experimenting — first on my own skin, then on my family. I kept notes. I kept refining. I still do.
"Every time I see someone with acne, it takes me straight back — to who I was, and to the guidance I wished someone had given me. That feeling is behind every product rasā makes."
THE PANDEMIC PAUSE
In 2020, the world stopped. So did I. After years of airports and adrenaline, the stillness asked a question I hadn't had time for: what do you actually want to build?
THE FIRST FORMULA
The first product I made was a face cream from a free online lesson. It split on the first try. I made it again. It came out beautifully. That formula is still in our range today — I've just made it better.
COMING HOME
As an Indian, Ayurveda was always in my bones. I just had to find my way back to it.
We grew up in a system that taught us — quietly, persistently — that everything Indian was somehow lesser. That modern Western medicine was science and Ayurveda was superstition. That synthetic was progress and ancient was backward. I believed it for longer than I would like to admit.
It was the struggle to fix my cycle after Roaccutane, and then the deeper, harder journey of trying to have a baby, that brought me back. Not to something new. To something that had always been mine.
Ayurveda treated my body as a whole. My cycle came back. My skin — not overnight, not dramatically, but steadily and honestly — began to change. And I found myself quietly furious at how long it had taken me to find my way back to something that was never lost — just buried under a century of someone else's education system.
"The rishis who derived Shatadhauta Ghrita — a hundred-times-washed ghee processed into a lamellar structure that absorbs like water — understood what modern cosmetic science is only now documenting. That is not pseudoscience. That is pure ancient intelligence."
That is where rasā began
WHAT MAKES RASĀ DIFFERENT
We are not just an Ayurveda brand. We are where ancient wisdom meets modern clean science.
The more I researched Ayurvedic formulation, the more I found it confirmed by modern clean beauty science. And the more I studied clean beauty, the more I understood what Ayurveda had already known. The two aren't in opposition — they are in conversation. rasā lives in that conversation.
Every product we make starts with two questions. What does Ayurvedic knowledge say about this skin concern? And what does current clean beauty research say? When both answers point to the same ingredient, the same approach, the same result — that is when a Rasa product is born.

rasā
We are not anti-science. We are pro-truth. And sometimes, the oldest truth is also the most advanced.
WHAT WE STAND FOR
- Formulate with anything we wouldn't put on our own skin — or our children's.
- Use greenwashing language to make something sound cleaner that it is
Add a product to fill a gap. Everything in our product range has worked for us first.
Chase a trend faster than we can understand and source it honestly
Separate Ayurvedic wisdom from clean beauty science, at rasā they inform each other
Make you feel like your skin is a problem to be fixed. It is a story to be understood
Stop learning. The research never ends. Neither does our responsibility to you.
Rasa is made in small batches. Ethically sourced. Built on 5,000 years of documented wisdom, cross-referenced with the best of modern clean beauty science — we are still learning.
THE NAME
Why we are called rasā
In Sanskrit, rasa carries many meanings. Essence. Juice. The vital fluid of life. In Ayurveda, rasa is the first tissue formed from everything we take in — the foundation from which skin, blood, energy, and immunity are all built.
rasā
ESSENCE . VITALITY . THE TASTE OF LIFE RESTORED
Every product we make is an attempt to return your skin to its rasa. Its essence. What it was before the chemicals, the prescriptions, the things you were handed without being told the whole truth.
