INCENSE

“Make me a fragrance that smells like love”

Christian dior

The history of incense is as old as mankind itself and begins more than 6000 years ago.

The practice of burning aromatic dried material is synonymous with ritualism & spirituality all over the world and was used as a medium to communicate with the deities.

Scents of roots, herbs and flowers have transcended the world culture.

The use of incense in healing was integral in Ayurveda from the beginning. Since the Vedic times in the Atharva Veda, and the Rig Veda, incense was burnt both for its aromatic, medicinal & spiritual value. Incense burning signifies the primordial vibration - ‘the Aadi Naam’ or ‘the Avyakto Aksharah’ as mentioned in scriptures that reverberates in our breath.

The recreational, healing & ritualistic use of incense has since remained present throughout Asia and many other parts of the world. It is used to create a sense of space and environment.

Lighting incense is a reminder to enjoy time with purpose & mindfulness, something we need more now than ever. It also offers a connection to our individual idea of a ritual, an evocation of nature.
